Annette is a multi-media artist. She has had numerous exhibitions showing the scope of her talents in oil painting, drawing, Japanese brush, lithography, ceramics and singing. She exhibits her Japanese brush work in Ravenna, Italy in a group exhibition of Contemporary California artists. The Pacific Beach Library Gallery included her drawings in their First Drawing show. Annette recently returned from art residencies in Tuscany, Italy and the Michaelis School of Art at Cape Town University in South Africa. She is the Artist-in-Residence at BorrelliSpace, a community of artists that she established in 2004.

She receives many awards for her work as an artist and an arts advocate. Annette is the 2003 Local Hero in the Arts presented by KPBS Public Television and Union Bank of California. As a member of the bi-national art group RevArte she received the Prix Ars Electronica Award, an international Award for their work with InSite ’97. Appointed Commissioner for the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, she served seven years and Annette is also the first artist commissioned for work in the Sony Artwalk Permanent Collection.

Porter Troupe and Tres Gallery represented her work in San Diego, California, and San Diego State University San Marcos, Mira Costa College and Southwestern College and Galeria Cuidad, Tijuana, Mexico exhibited her work in solo exhibitions.

Annette’s performance work includes a reading for Sledgehammer Theatre; Sumi and Song an exhibition of her work and a musical concert accompanied by Joe Morrillo; Artists 4 Art, a televised demonstration of painting for the public school audience produced for the an Diego County Board of Education. Collaborations with the theatre include set designs for Christina Jone’s dance performances at Sushi Performance Art and with Common Ground Theatre for Josephine Tonight!

From 1996 through 2002, she and artist-husband Jim Hammond published The Publication, San Diego's Arts Magazine. They advocated for recognition of artists in the Southern California region. The team also established The Publication's ArtGallery999 and with their neighbors co-founded Ray at Night , a collaborative monthly “happening” of visual and performing arts.

Annette organized and co-created the 1 in 3 painting for the Family Justice Center in San Diego. 1 in 3 is on view at the Center in downtown San Diego. Most recently she coordinated the first University Heights Arts Open, a self-guided tour of the art studios and musicians.
